Turquoise Fruit Tree

This short fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 48 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, crooked trunk covered in thin, knobbly, yellow-brown bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is pine-coloured.

The branches are very long, thin and wispy and are covered with small bunches of tiny, needle-like leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are solid florescent green or slate, with purple streaks.

In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of large, vivid orange blossoms with 7 circular shaped petals. They fall easily and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like something putrid.

In early winter it produces , spherical fruit. The soft slate skin is thin and inedible, and the slightly crunchy turquoise flesh is bitter and very juicy. The cream seed is small and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with patches of undergrowth between them.
