Spineleaf Cubeflower

This short leaf succulent grows up to 12 feet (3.7 meters) tall. The thick stem is brown, and is covered in many rigid pink spines. The smooth-edged, finger-like leaves are a shade of yellow-green or olive that gradient shifts to slate at the top. Very large amounts of them grow from the base in tight-packed layers. The leaves are delicate, and take little effort to detach.

It is fast growing, taking 8 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with azure petals and a yellow center grows at the top, reappearing once every 9 years. The flower head is shaped like a cube made up of 18 tightly layered, round-tipped petals. It has a powerful scent that smells like sugar.

The leaf succulent's skin is tough, the orange flesh is soft, and the caramel sap is thin.
