Bluefruit Tree

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 13 feet (4.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 45 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a thick, slanted trunk covered in thick, wrinkled, brown-green speckled bark, and inside, the very hard wood is black with white speckles.

The small clumps of branches are very short and thin and are covered with large amounts of giant, very narrow and elongated leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are found in yellow, light grey and cyan varieties.

In early spring, it produces handfuls of tiny, intense blue blossoms with broad, flat petals. They fall easily and have an intense scent that smells like onion.

In mid-autumn it produces small, perforated fruit. The sticky dark brown skin is thick and inedible, and the very soft grey flesh is sweet and syrupy. The slate seed is tiny and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with grassy ground between them.
