Magenta Glowfruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This large fruit tree grows up to 21 feet (6.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 23 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a very thick, straight trunk covered in hard, silky, light brown bark, and inside, the hard wood is pine-coloured.

The small bunches of branches trail down to the ground and are covered with sparse amounts of miniature, spear shaped leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are gray-green with crimson tips.

In early spring, it produces lots of medium-sized, orange blossoms with long, tapering petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have a weak scent that smells like pine needles.

In early winter it produces small, oval fruit. The fuzzy magenta skin is thin and inedible, and the very soft magenta flesh is sweet and powdery. The pale yellow seed is small and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with clear space between them.

It grows well in the sun and full shade.
