Crimson vine
Climbing plant type: Bine (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)This short bine is a quick growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 14 feet (4.3 meters) and growing as high as 149 feet (45.4 meters). It prefers to grow on rock formations.
It takes 4 months for the green and dark brown stems to mature, by which point they can have a diameter of 3 cm (1.2 inches) and are hard and brittle.
The broad, flat, clammy leaves reach up to 5 inches (13 cm) in length. They are crimson on the edges and indigo at the center, and have smooth edges.
During late spring, the bine produces a handful of giant red flowers, and during the early autumn, after flowering, it produces lots of small berries.
