Silverfruit Tree

This small fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 47 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, curved trunk covered in delicate, smooth, brown-green bark, and inside, the very dense wood is silver.

The excessive amount of branches are short stubs and are covered with large amounts of tiny, very thin leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are bronze on the sides and silver at the center.

In early spring, it produces thick bunches of medium-sized, purple blossoms with asymmetrical petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have a delicate scent that smells like mint.

In mid-summer it produces , long, narrow fruit. The soft green skin is delicate and savoury, and the slightly crunchy bronze flesh is bitter and salty and dry. The ashy orange seed is small and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with grassy ground between them.
