Indigo Blossom

This large flower grows up to 2.3 feet (71 cm) tall. Its brown stems grow in bunches of 4 and are thin and straight, and the tiny, lime green leaves are stiff, pointed with smooth edges. 14 leaves grow at the base of the stem.

3 to 6 tiny flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 78 cm (30.7 inches) wide, with petals that are generally indigo; each flower tends to be a variation of this colour. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 20 petals. They are hardy.

It has a strong scent that smells like marzipan, and it has very little pollen; it can cause allergic reactions. It is a self-pollinator, but is also visited by one species of insect in particular.
