Spiny Prismfern

Succulent type: Leaf succulent (Stores water in its leaves)

This modest-sized leaf succulent grows up to 55 feet (16.8 meters) tall. The very thick stem is emerald, and is covered in lots of flexible purple spines. The ripped-edged, 6 pointed leaves are found in blood red, indigo and turquoise varieties. Thick bunches of them grow from the base in a random bunch. The leaves are delicate, and detach easily.

It is steady-growing, taking 12 months to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with solid cyan petals decorated with black dots and a orange central disk grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is shaped like a cup with 42 tightly layered, narrow petals. It has a weak scent that smells like coconut.

The leaf succulent's skin is thin, the blue flesh is soft, and the blue sap is thin.

It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
It is possible to grow it from cuttings.
It spreads easily and often blanket large areas.
