Vinebloom

This modest-sized shrub grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 120 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has many very thick, wonky stems covered in thin, waxy, pine-coloured bark, and the wood inside is burgundy.

The branches are very short and thin with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with small amounts of small, finger-like, leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are violet and purple, flimsy and waxy.

In early summer it produces several tiny, bright red flowers with shield-shaped petals with a tube-like floral cup. They detach easily and have the faintest scent that smells like marzipan.
