Emerald Shield Moss

This yellow-green moss is commonly found growing in small clumps In damp forests, In rainforests, and On rotten logs.
It is large, growing up to 8 inches (20 cm) tall. It forms in thick clumps and they overwhelm an area rapidly, and is slightly resilient.
When mature, emerald shield-shaped capsules grow at the end of elongated, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early autumn to release thousands of spores; it does not cause many allergic reactions.

The bark, wood and leaves are edible.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
It can survive a long time without water.
