Aquilina Spikefern

This average-sized caudiciform grows up to 71 feet (21.6 meters) tall. The asymmetrical stem is olive or magenta, and is covered in thick sheets of flexible aquamarine spines. It has a curved, thick, lime trunk atop a thick block of cracked, exposed roots. The branches are thin and olive or magenta and trail down to the ground.

The jagged-edged, sickle shaped leaves are either pastel yellow or grey, with orange patches. They are delicate, and take little effort to detach.

It is quick growing, taking 11 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with petals that are silver in the center, brilliant blue in the middle and ashy purple at the edges, grow at the top, reappearing after 2 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is made up of handfuls of petals in raised layers. It has a strong scent that smells like old shoes.

The caudiciform's skin is thin, the pink flesh is rough, and the black sap is thin.
