Winterleaf Sunflower

This modest-sized flower grows up to 9 inches (23 cm) tall. Its yellow stems grow in bunches of 7 and are thick with a curved tip, and the small, copper leaves are fan-like with irregular edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.

A single small flower sits at the end of the stem. The flowers are 4 cm (1.6 inches) wide, with each petal a slightly different shade of beige. The flower head is made up of 10 petals in raised layers. They fall easily.

It has a scent that varies in strength that smells like rotten egg, and it has very little pollen; it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is pollinated by the wind.
