Mountain Spiral Moss

This brown moss is commonly found blanketing small areas In rainy mountain ranges.
It is large, growing up to 7 inches (18 cm) tall. It forms in extensive patches, and is slightly delicate; it struggles more than most during dry spells.
When mature, emerald spiral capsules grow at the end of long, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early winter to release hundred of spores.
