Carnival Cactus

This short cactus grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall. The spear shaped stem is pink-red, and is covered in sharp spines. The tear-shaped body is yellow-green, and is covered in brittle black spines.

It is very slow growing, taking 13 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, several flowers with petals that are caramel on the underside and azure on the top grow at the top, reappearing after 6 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is shaped like a cup made up of dozens of widely spaced, round-tipped petals. It has a powerful scent that smells like rotten meat.

The cactus's skin is thin, the copper flesh is soft, and the red sap is thin and has hallucinogenic properties.
