It takes 2 years for the cream and orange-yellow stems to mature, by which point they can have a diameter of 4 inches (10 cm) and are hard and brittle.
The very thick, fuzzy leaves reach up to 6 inches (15 cm) in length. They are yellow and amber, and have smooth edges.
