Aquamara Tree
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)This short fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 57 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.
It has a very thick, crooked trunk covered in rough, light brown bark, and inside, the dense wood is light brown.
The large clumps of branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with very large amounts of large, very thick leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are either aquamarine, or blood red with brown lines.
In early spring, it produces many balls of small, lime blossoms with spear shaped petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have an overpowering scent that smells like new books.
In late autumn it produces small, C-shaped fruit. The fuzzy turquoise skin is tough and inedible, and the soft blood red flesh is savoury and powdery. The ashy green seeds are small and are located in the centre of the fruit.
The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.
Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
It aggressively steals nutrients from other large plants (but not each other).
