Azure Spineflower

This small caudiciform grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall. The very thin stem is gray-green, and is dotted with small grey spines. It has a crooked, stocky, beige trunk atop a very thick platform of waxy, exposed roots. The branches are wide and purple and trail down to the ground.

The ripped-edged, pleated leaves are either dark brown or dull yellow, with azure streaks. They are flexible, but take some effort to detach.

It is fast growing, taking 6 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with dark brown petals that gradient shift to pastel blue on the outer edge. The central disk is beige grows at the top, reappearing once every 4 years. The flower head is made up of 13 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight heart. It has a delicate scent that smells like something putrid.

The caudiciform's skin is nearly impenetrable, the brown flesh is rubbery, and the slate sap is thin.
