Blue Spine Succulent

This modest-sized caudiciform grows up to 53 feet (16.2 meters) tall. The very thick stem is brown, and is covered in brittle bronze spines. The wide, silver trunk can grow to as much as 53 feet (16.2 meters) in diameter. Its green branches are long and thin.

The irregular-edged, 3 pointed leaves are turquoise on the edges and gold at the center. They are frail, and do not detach easily.

It is very fast growing, taking 9 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, several flowers with petals that are either sky blue or brown, with a yellow center grow at the top, reappearing after 5 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is made up of dozens of petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight dish. It has a mildly strong scent that smells like old books.

The caudiciform's skin is extremely thick, the subtle yellow flesh is rough, and the pastel blue sap is thin.
