Clinging Conifer
Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)This short fruit tree grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 40 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.
It has a flexible, slanted trunk covered in fine, knobbly, light gray bark, and inside, the dense wood is white.
The abundance of branches are short stubs and are covered with handfuls of huge, finger-like leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are either silver or bronze, with gold dots.
In early spring, it produces dozens of tiny, grey blossoms with pleated petals. They detach easily and have an intense scent that smells like garlic.
In mid-summer it produces , pleated fruit. The leathery magenta skin is thick and inedible, and the slightly crunchy pale green flesh is savoury and sticky. The crimson seeds are small and are bunched at the top of the fruit.
The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.
Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
