Copperbloom Tree

This colossal fruit tree grows up to 56 feet (17.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 26 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a very thick, crooked trunk covered in thick, silky, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the light wood is copper-coloured.

The tangled mess of branches are long and slender and are covered with sparse amounts of large, sickle shaped leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are solid black with indigo lines.

In early spring, it produces a handful of giant, peach blossoms with sickle shaped petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are hardy and have a strong scent that smells like vanilla.

In early winter it produces large, finger-like fruit. The rough bronze skin is thin and inedible, and the very soft brilliant yellow flesh is bitter and syrupy. The black seeds are small and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.
