Coniapple

This short fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 36 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a slender, curved trunk covered in very thick, ridged, yellow-brown bark, and inside, the light wood is black.

The numerous branches are long and thin and are covered with copious amounts of miniature, wispy leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are found in beige, bronze and caramel varieties.

In early spring, it produces lots of giant, blue blossoms with needle-like petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a weak scent that smells like coconut.

In late autumn it produces tiny, long, straight fruit. The sticky green skin is peel-able and inedible, and the soft magenta flesh is sweet and spicy and syrupy. The crimson seeds are tiny and are dotted around on the skin of the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with patches of undergrowth between them.
