This average-sized flower grows up to 1.5 feet (46 cm) tall. Its orange-yellow stem is wispy, and the small, pink-red leaves are broad, flat with tattered edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from the base up to about halfway.

6 to 10 tiny flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 44 cm (17.3 inches) wide, with alternating petals of cyan and bronze, with a light brown central disk. The flower head is shaped like a tube with 45 tightly layered, round-tipped petals. They fall easily.
