This gray moss is commonly found blanketing tiny areas In rainy mountain ranges, and In bogs.
It is massive, growing up to 11 inches (28 cm) tall. It forms in extensive patches and they are slow to spread and grow, and is overwhelmingly hardy.
When mature, emerald spiral capsules grow at the end of elongated, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early autumn to release hundred of spores; it does not cause many allergic reactions.

It out-competes most other plants for nutrients and light.
It is bio-luminescent.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
It is almost impossible to grow indoors.
