Thorned Lilac Succulent
Succulent type: Leaf succulent (Stores water in its leaves)This small leaf succulent grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall. The very thick stem is brown, and is covered in copious amounts of rigid orange spines. The irregular-edged, slender, pointed leaves are pink on the edges and lilac at the center. Copious amounts of them grow from the base in a loosely patterned way. The leaves are hardy, and detach easily.
It is quick growing, taking 10 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with alternating petals of sky blue and green, with a yellow central disk, grow at the top, reappearing once every 2 years. The flower head is largely flat with several widely spaced narrow petals. It has an intense scent that smells like blood.
The leaf succulent's skin is nearly impenetrable, the grey flesh is rubbery, and the orange sap is thin.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
It is almost impossible to grow indoors.
