Emberspike
Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This small caudiciform grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall. The wide stem is emerald, and is covered in thick bunches of flexible lime spines. The twisting, gold trunk can grow to as much as 1 foot (30.5 cm) in diameter at the bottom. Its pink-red branches are short, rigid and upright and start growing halfway up the stem.
The very large amounts of rounded-edged, 3 pointed leaves are intense purple and washed-out orange. They are resistant, and detach easily.
It is fast growing, taking 5 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, several flowers with each petal a slightly different shade of lime grow at the top, reappearing after 4 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 26 petals. It has a strong scent that smells like petrol.
The caudiciform's skin is rock-hard, the green flesh is rough, and the amber sap is thin.
Once on fire, it burns very quickly.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
