Spiralvine Fruit Tree

This small fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 29 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a flexible, slanted trunk covered in knobbly, yellow bark, and inside, the light wood is black.

The branches are short stubs and are covered with small bunches of miniature, very thick leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are found in ashy yellow and aquamarine varieties.

In early spring, it produces thousands of medium-sized, orange blossoms with 3 spiral shaped petals. They are sturdy and have an intensely strong scent that smells like burning wood.

In early summer it produces tiny, long, straight fruit. The sticky turquoise skin is thick and savoury, and the soft yellow flesh is sour and juicy. The orange seed is small and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with grassy ground between them.
