Aquamarine Spineleaf

This short leaf succulent grows up to 10 feet (3.0 meters) tall. The pleated stem is green, and is dotted with small bronze spines. The rounded leaves are grey with aquamarine tips. Very large amounts of them grow on flat, vivid yellow and crimson branches that are long and thin. The leaves are flimsy, and easily come away when pulled.

It is slow growing, taking 14 years to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with petals that are black on the edges and purple at the center grow at the top, reappearing once every 4 years. The flower head is shaped like a cube with 25 tightly layered, narrow petals. It has a scent that varies in strength that smells like sugar.

The leaf succulent's skin is rock-hard, the dark grey flesh is sticky, and the red sap is thin.
