Waterstem Tree

This small tree grows up to 5 meters (16.4 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 504 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a stocky, straight trunk covered in smooth, black with white speckled bark, and inside, the flexible wood is yellow.

The abundance of branches are very short and thin and are covered with copious amounts of clammy, giant, perforated leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are vibrant purple at the bottom and purple with dull red edges at the top.

In late summer it forms tiny, crimson, winged seeds that float and land far away.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with patches of undergrowth between them.
