Coniapple

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This short fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 21 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a flexible, straight trunk covered in paper-thin, waxy, yellow-brown bark, and inside, the light wood is white.

The small bunches of branches are very long and thin and are covered with handfuls of huge, spear shaped leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are cream and amber.

In early spring, it produces several medium-sized, indigo blossoms with 7 shield-shaped shaped petals. They detach easily and have a delicate scent that smells like cinnamon.

In early winter it produces , long, tapering fruit. The rubbery lime skin is peel-able and edible when roasted; it is sweet, and the very soft caramel flesh is bitter and salty and very dry. The black seeds are large and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with clear space between them.

It is suitable for making baskets and the like

It commonly grows in large patches.
