Clingvine

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 43 years. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has numerous long and flexible, curved stems covered in fine, wrinkled, silver and white bark, and the wood inside is black with white speckles.

The branches are short and thick with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with thick bunches of miniature, perforated, leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are found in copper and dark grey varieties, sturdy and smooth.

In late spring it produces a thick sheet of small, copper blossoms with 7 pointed petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have a fairly strong scent that smells like pepper.

In mid-autumn tiny oblong fruits ripen. The waxy dark grey skin is thin and inedible, and the very soft blood red flesh is salty and sticky. The green seed is very large and sits at the top of the fruit.
