Trailfruit Tree

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 10 feet (3.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 63 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, straight trunk covered in thin, rough, burgundy and brown bark, and inside, the very dense wood is dark brown.

The excessive amount of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with large amounts of huge, perforated leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are either aquamarine or hazel, with olive zig-zags.

In early spring, it produces large amounts of medium-sized, azure blossoms with long, tapering petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have a powerful scent that smells like varnish.

In late autumn it produces , oblong fruit. The fuzzy vibrant green skin is thick and sweet, and the slightly crunchy cyan flesh is savoury and powdery. The cream seeds are small and are bunched at the top of the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with patches of undergrowth between them.
