Chocolate Bell Tree

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This modest-sized tree grows up to 20 meters (65.6 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 660 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, angular trunk covered in ridged, dark gray bark, and inside, the flexible wood is burgundy.

The branches are very long and slender and are covered with thick bunches of soft, huge, perforated leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are either pink, or cyan with black splotches.

In early spring, it produces several tiny, grey blossoms with long, tapering petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have a mildly strong scent that smells like chocolate.

In late summer it forms giant, cream, winged seeds that float and land far away.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
