Caramel Spine Rose

This modest-sized caudiciform grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall. The perforated stem is caramel and slate, and is covered in sharp spines. The straight, lime trunk can grow to as much as 5 feet (1.5 meters) in diameter in the middle. Its lime green branches are very short and thin and start growing at the top the stem.

The copious amounts of wavy-edged, 9 pointed leaves are dark brown at the bottom and brilliant green with intense orange splotches at the top. They are delicate, but detach easily.

It is slow growing, taking 22 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a single flower with petals that are generally gold; each flower tends to be a variation of this colour grows at the top, reappearing after 3 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is made up of dozens of petals in raised layers. It has a mildly strong scent that smells like roses.

The caudiciform's skin is thin, the bronze flesh is leathery, and the orange sap is thin.
