Twinefruit Tree

This big fruit tree grows up to 44 feet (13.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 26 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a slender, crooked trunk covered in fine, ridged, mahogany-coloured bark, and inside, the soft wood is gray.

The sparse amount of branches trail down to the ground and are covered with sparse amounts of huge, asymmetrical leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are brilliant blue at the bottom and beige with washed-out red lines at the top.

In early spring, it produces thousands of small, olive blossoms with 5 pointed petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have a weak scent that smells like sweat.

In early summer it produces , circular fruit. The soft cream skin is stretchy and edible when cooked; it is sour, and the crunchy blood red flesh is savoury and very juicy. The caramel seeds are large and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
