This modest-sized bine is a steady-growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 39 feet (11.9 meters)0. It prefers to grow on specific trees.

It takes 5 years for the silver or caramel stems to mature, by which point they have tangled themselves into thick mats with a diameter of 3 inches (8 cm) and are smooth and waxy.

The long, narrow, clammy leaves reach up to 8 inches (20 cm) in length. They are gold and violet, and have serrated edges.
