Waterlily Bluebell

This short flower grows up to 6 inches (15 cm) tall. Its moss green stem is very thick and splits into 8 branching stems at the top, and the miniature, light blue or azure leaves are broad, flat with smooth edges. The leaves alternate on the stem.

2 to 6 large flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 6 cm (2.4 inches) wide, with petals that are light blue on the edges and slate at the center. The flower head is largely flat with 14 tightly layered narrow petals. They fall easily.

It has a scent that varies in strength that smells like blood, and it has copious amounts of pollen. It is a self-pollinator, but is also particularly attractive to insects.
