Bloodblossom

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This small fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 30 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, angular trunk covered in paper-thin, smooth, brown and grey bark, and inside, the dense wood is gray.

The small handful of branches are very long and slender and are covered with small amounts of tiny, asymmetrical leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are pale yellow and light brown.

In early spring, it produces many balls of tiny, blood red blossoms with pleated petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are sturdy and have a strong scent that smells like musk.

In early autumn it produces small, oval fruit. The rubbery hazel skin is peel-able and sweet, and the slightly crunchy lilac flesh is bitter and juicy. The yellow seeds are small and are bunched at the bottom of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with clear space between them.

It absorbs an exceptionally large amount of water each day.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
