Spireafern

Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This average-sized caudiciform grows up to 57 feet (17.4 meters) tall. The wispy stem is emerald, and is covered in lots of flexible washed-out green spines. The very thick, washed-out green trunk can grow to as much as 57 feet (17.4 meters) in diameter. Its red branches are tall, rigid and upright.

The jagged-edged, very thin leaves are either gold, or lilac with olive patches. They are sturdy, and easily come away when pulled.

It is fast growing, taking 2 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with petals that are vibrant blue on the edges and ashy purple at the center, grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is largely flat with many widely spaced narrow petals. It has an overpowering scent that smells like fresh linen.

The caudiciform's skin is thick, the slate flesh is rough, and the cream sap is thin.

It is suitable for making baskets and the like
