Sirenfruit Tree
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)This big fruit tree grows up to 43 feet (13.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 35 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.
It has a knobbly, crooked trunk covered in paper-thin, silky, brown-green speckled bark, and inside, the flexible wood is white.
The branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with copious amounts of small, perforated leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are brilliant red and violet.
In early spring, it produces lots of large, blood red blossoms with 9 crescent-shaped shaped petals. They are hardy and have a fairly strong scent that smells like a woman.
In mid-summer it produces , needle-like fruit. The fuzzy orange skin is tough and sour and savoury, and the slightly crunchy lilac flesh is salty and sticky. The lime seeds are small and are scattered throughout the fruit.
The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
