Coniapple Tree

This big fruit tree grows up to 38 feet (11.6 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 65 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, twisting trunk covered in thin, ridged, light gray bark, and inside, the light wood is yellow-brown.

The branches trail down to the ground and are covered with thick bunches of tiny, needle-like leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are found in bronze and black varieties.

In early spring, it produces balls of large, hazel blossoms with pleated petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are hardy and have a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like fish.

In mid-autumn it produces , long, tapering fruit. The clammy green skin is tough and edible when roasted; it is sweet, and the very soft lilac flesh is sweet and sticky. The caramel seeds are tiny and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with patches of undergrowth between them.
