Twistvine

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 50 years. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has many long and flexible, twisting stems covered in very thick, rough, pine-coloured bark, and the wood inside is dark brown.

The branches are very long and thin with thousands of twigs that and are covered with large amounts of huge, long, narrow, leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are red and bold green, frail and smooth.

It produces dozens of medium-sized, dark grey flowers with asymmetrical petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have a soft scent that smells like petrol. In late winter it forms largehazel, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.
