Twistvine Pine

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 26 years. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has dozens of knobbly, wonky stems covered in cracked, silver and white bark, and the wood inside is black with white speckles.

The branches are short and thick with dozens of twigs that and are covered with small bunches of huge, finger-like, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are brown at the bottom and magenta with orange streaks at the top, hardy and rough.

It produces thick bunches of medium-sized, gold flowers with fan-like petals. They fall easily and have an overpowering scent that smells like soap. In late spring it forms medium-sizedolive, spiky-shelled seeds.
