Twistvine

Shrub type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This large shrub grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for around 12 years. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has dozens of wide, twisting stems covered in waxy, copper-coloured bark, and the wood inside is yellow-brown.

The branches trail down across the ground that and are covered with thick bunches of tiny, long, tapering, leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of brown that gradient shifts to lilac at the top, rigid and smooth.

In early summer it produces several small, red blossoms with 2 teardrop-shaped shaped petals. They detach easily and have a strong scent that smells like fruity.

In early winter slender, 9 pointed fruits ripen. The fuzzy caramel skin is thick and salty, and the crunchy dark grey flesh is sweet and dry. The slate seeds are tiny and are located in the centre of the fruit.

It is suitable for making strong rope
The colour changes depends on whether the soil is acidic or alkaline.
