Waterstem Fruit Tree
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)This short fruit tree grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 45 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a slender, straight trunk covered in rough, brown and grey bark, and inside, the soft wood is light brown.
The numerous branches are short and thin and are covered with very large amounts of huge, thick leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are found in purple, lime and slate varieties.
In early spring, it produces lots of medium-sized, beige blossoms with long, tapering petals with a tube-like floral cup. They detach easily and have an overpowering scent that smells like new carpet.
In late autumn it produces large, circular fruit. The fuzzy crimson skin is thin and edible when cooked; it is bitter, and the crunchy slate flesh is bitter and sour and powdery. The brown seed is small and sits at the top of the fruit.
The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with grassy ground between them.
The grains are bitter, but very healthy and are suitable for boiling.
It is suitable for making paper
Their seeds have hallucinogenic properties.
