Clinging Violet

This short flower grows up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. Its dark brown and gray stem is thin, and the tiny, turquoise leaves are grey on the underside and are slender, pointed with tattered edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

Two large flowers sit at the end of the stem. The flowers are 11 cm (4.3 inches) wide, with solid magenta petals decorated with grey dots and a violet central disk. The flower head is shaped like a cube with 28 widely spaced, narrow petals. They fall easily.

It has a weak scent that smells like a man, and it has very little pollen, but can cause allergic reactions. It is pollinated by insects and is particularly attractive to a specific species.
