Mahogany Thornbush

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 72 years. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has many flexible, slanted stems covered in ridged, burgundy and brown bark, and the wood inside is mahogany-coloured.

The branches are very short and thin with dozens of twigs that and are covered with small bunches of giant, very thick, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are found in beige and grey varieties, hardy and smooth.

It produces large amounts of small, black flowers with kidney-shaped shaped petals. They fall easily and have an intense scent that smells like cheese. In early winter it forms largecaramel, spiky-shelled seeds.
