Burgundy Marsh Moss

This burgundy moss is commonly found blanketing large areas In marshes, and In rainy mountain ranges.
It is massive, growing up to 11 inches (28 cm) tall. It forms in extensive patches and they overwhelm an area rapidly, and is very robust.
When mature, emerald teardrop-shaped capsules grow at the end of elongated, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the mid-summer to release thousands of spores.
