Water Oak

This short tree grows up to 6 meters (19.7 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 534 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a branched, wavy trunk covered in ridged, light brown bark, and inside, the dense wood is black with white speckles.

The small bunches of branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with very large amounts of fuzzy, small, stiff, pointed leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are black at the bottom and purple with lime edges at the top.

In early spring, it produces a handful of medium-sized, turquoise blossoms with spear shaped petals. They are very delicate and have a delicate scent that smells like cheese.

In late summer it forms medium-sized, beige, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
