Clinging Fir

This short tree grows up to 3 meters (9.8 feet) tall and lives for over 3,000 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 3134 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, wavy trunk covered in hard, cracked, white with black speckled bark, and inside, the very dense wood is gray.

The excessive amount of branches are short stubs, with hundreds of twigs covered with very large amounts of huge, gray-green needles. The needles themselves are tough.

In late summer it produces tiny, white seed pods.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with patches of undergrowth between them.
