Grass type: Biennial (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This large, moss green grass grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall. The stiff, pointed stalks grow in small clumps that are strong and tough and they overwhelm an area rapidly.
When mature, the end of the stem eventually transforms into a medium-sized, slate flower.
During the early winter, it produces copious amounts of pollen; it can can cause allergic reactions, and after flowering, it is left with a handful of medium-sized grains.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
It is difficult to cut through.
It commonly grows in large patches.
